The first Kicks for Kidneys Kick A Thon was started by David MacKinnon to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House in Hamilton. David organized a small group of Martial Arts Junior Leaders to help raise funds that would help allow families to remain together while their child receives treatment at MacMaster Children’s Hospital. David wanted to give back to the home that allowed his parents and brother to remain with him during some of the most terrifying points in his life.
