Krista Torraville is a Registered Social Worker with Niagara Health in the Kidney Care program. She began her employment with them part time in September 2014. At the same she worked at Gillian’s Place and with the Halton and Niagara’s Aphasia programs until June 2015 when she became a full time employee with Niagara Health.
She graduated from the Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts and the University of Calgary in 1996 with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Certificate of Criminology.
She began her career in the child protection field where she worked in both Alberta and Prince Edward Island. During her 13 years in PEI she worked with various populations including seniors, children and their families, persons with a physical disability, and individuals supported by social service funding. Her work in health care began in 2007 at the Cumberland Health Authority in Amherst, Nova Scotia where she was the Acting Director of Social Work and also part of the regional palliative care team which was the first of its kind at the time.
She has served as the Chair on the Summerside Family Health Centre board in PEI for 5 years and served 4 years on the Ontario Association of Social Workers Niagara chapter holding the Chair position for two years.
Krista is a passionate and empathetic social worker who prides herself on her ability to build positive relationships with the clients she serves. She is proud to work as part of the compassionate multi disciplinary team at the Kidney Care program and her goal is to remain in this role for the duration of her career.
She resides in Niagara Falls with her husband of 25 years and her two young adult children.
